Camp Century - buried under ice

Camp Century is an abandoned Cold War-era military base in the near-surface layers of the Greenland Ice Sheet. In response to concerns from the Government of Greenland over the potential remobilization of its contaminants by climate change, the Government of Denmark established the Camp Century Climate Monitoring Programme in 2017.

Since the programme was established, scientists have been able to retrieve precise weather data from Camp century. Their new study suggest that snow will continue to accumulate at Camp century within the present century, which means that the abandoned camp will remain buried under ice.
